入境及海關英語：常見問題，清晰答案

入境檢查可能會感到緊張，因為對話時間短、正式，而且有時候難以聽清楚。不過，好消息是問題通常是可預測的。

你的任務是誠實、直接地回答。不要背誦一個複雜的故事。了解自己的行程，並將支持文件放在容易拿取的地方。

四個必須知道的事實

在降落前，請確保你可以說明：

1. 你為什麼來訪。
2. 你將停留多久。
3. 你將住在哪里。
4. 你何時和如何離開。

一個完整的答案仍然可以很簡短：“I’m here for a ten-day holiday. I’m staying at the Central Hotel, and I fly home on 18 May.”

入境檢查的問題

“What is the purpose of your visit?”

• “I’m here on holiday.”
• “I’m visiting friends.”
• “I’m attending a conference.”
• “I’m travelling for work.”

使用與你的簽證或入境許可相符的理由。

“How long are you staying?”

• “Nine days.”
• “Until the 18th of May.”
• “Just under three weeks.”

“Where are you staying?”

• “At the Harbour Hotel in the city centre.”
• “With my sister. Here is her address.”
• “I have two hotels booked. This is the first reservation.”

“Do you have a return ticket?”

• “Yes. My return flight is on 18 May.”
• “Yes, here is the confirmation.”

其他問題可能包括 “Is this your first visit?”、“What do you do for work?” 和 “Are you travelling alone?”。回答所問的問題；額外的細節通常不是很有幫助。

入境檢查對話

官員： What is the purpose of your trip?

旅客： Tourism. I’m here for twelve days.

官員： Where will you be staying?

旅客： On 22 September. I’m flying from Heathrow.

注意旅客是禮貌的，但不會填補每個沉默。一個安靜的官員不一定是一個不高興的官員。

當你不明白

在邊境猜測是一種糟糕的策略。要求再問一次問題。

• “Sorry, could you repeat that, please?”
• “Do you mean my address here or my home address?”
• “Could you speak a little more slowly, please?”
• “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch the last word.”

這些是正常的要求。它們比給出錯誤問題的答案更好。

海關：貨物、食物和現金

海關是關於你帶入一個國家的東西。一個 declaration 是關於那些物品的官方聲明。

• “I have nothing to declare.”
• “I’m carrying prescription medicine for personal use.”
• “I have some packaged food. Do I need to declare it?”
• “Where should I declare this item?”
• “Here is the prescription from my doctor.”

• 護照和所需的簽證
