Acquisti in inglese: taglie, prezzi, resi e pagamenti con carta

Gli acquisti all'estero non sono solo “How much is this?”. Potresti dover trovare una taglia, capire una promozione, rifiutare aiuto, scegliere la valuta della carta o restituire qualcosa in seguito.

Navigazione e richiesta di aiuto

Se un commesso ti chiede “Can I help you?”, puoi rispondere:

• “I’m just looking, thanks.”
• “Yes, I’m looking for a lightweight rain jacket.”
• “Do you sell phone chargers?”
• “Where can I find travel adapters?”
• “Do you have anything similar to this?”

“I’m just looking” è un'espressione amichevole e normale. Non significa che prometti di non comprare.

Taglie, colori e prova dei capi

• “Do you have this in a smaller size?”
• “Does this come in black?”
• “Could I try this on?”
• “Where are the fitting rooms?”
• “It’s a little tight around the shoulders.”
• “The size is right, but I’d prefer a different colour.”

Le taglie degli abiti non sono coerenti tra paesi o marche. Chiedi le misure se l'acquisto è importante: “What is the waist measurement for this size?”

Prezzi e promozioni

• “How much is this?”
• “Is this the final price?”
• “Is there a discount if I buy two?”
• “Is this included in the sale?”
• “What does ‘buy one, get one half price’ mean?”
• “Could you check the price, please? The shelf label was different.”

Un receipt registra il tuo acquisto. Un refund restituisce i tuoi soldi. Un exchange sostituisce un articolo con un altro.

Commesso: Let me know if you need any help.

Cliente: Thanks. Do you have this shirt in a medium?

Commesso: Let me check. We have a medium in blue, but not in green.

Cliente: Could I try the blue one on?

Commesso: Of course. The fitting rooms are at the back.

Cliente: It fits well. I’ll take it. Can I pay by card?

Commesso: Yes. Would you like a bag?

Cliente: No, thank you. I have one.

Pagamento con carta

• “Can I pay contactless?”
• “Do you accept this card?”
• “The card reader says the payment was declined.”
• “Could I try another card?”
• “Could I have a receipt, please?”
• “Can you email the receipt?”

Alcuni terminali offrono di addebitarti nella valuta del tuo paese di origine. Ciò si chiama conversione di valuta dinamica. Lo schermo dovrebbe mostrare le opzioni e il tasso di cambio; leggile prima di scegliere. Se desideri la valuta locale, di' “Please charge me in local currency.”

Acquisti esenti da tasse

Se i visitatori possono richiedere un rimborso fiscale, chiedi:

• “Is tax-free shopping available?”
• “What is the minimum purchase?”
• “Could I have the tax-free form?”
• “Do I need to show my passport?”
• “Where do I validate this at the airport?”

La procedura e l'idoneità variano. Conserva la ricevuta e chiedi se i beni devono rimanere non utilizzati fino all'ispezione.

Resi e cambi

• “I’d like to return this, please.”
• “I bought it yesterday, but it doesn’t fit.”
• “It stopped working after one use.”
• “Could I exchange it for a larger size?”
• “I have the receipt and the original packaging.”
• “Will the refund go back to the same card?”

Controlla la politica di reso prima di acquistare articoli in saldo. “Final sale” spesso significa che le resi non sono accettate a meno che l'articolo non sia difettoso.

Esercizio con oggetti intorno a te

Scegli tre oggetti. Per ognuno, chiedi il prezzo, una versione diversa e la politica di reso. Poi pratica un problema di pagamento. Gli stessi schemi di frase funzionano per abbigliamento, elettronica, regali e articoli di viaggio.
